Bridgerton star jokes about speculation he’s dating his co-star

Entertainment:

Bridgerton fans may be disappointed to know there’s no off-screen romance between Phoebe Dynevor and Regé-Jean Page.

Page, 31, addressed the speculation he’s romantically involved with his co-star during an interview with Access.

“I think that everything you need to know is on camera,” Page said through laughs.

“All the sparks that flew off of the beautiful scripts that we were handed, and so I think that the sparky scripted material is more than enough.”

The Shonda Rhimes-produced show became a global sensation when it debuted on Netflix and quickly became one of the most-watched original TV shows on the platform.

Bridgerton follows British high society and their romantic lives through the narration of a mysterious gossip columnist, Lady Whistledown. She is voiced by the legendary actress Julie Andrews.

Dynevor, who stars as Daphne Bridgerton in the series, admitted she was enticed by the Shondaland production and had full confidence it would boast strong female characters.

“I knew that the women were gonna have real agency,” Dynevor said. “They were not gonna be, you know, timid women… so that was the thing that really excited me.”

In a recent interview with 9Honey Celebrity, Dynevor also reflected on Andrews’ involvement with the project.

“I read her autobiography in lockdown, so I could just feel close to her,” Dynevor joked.
