The Adam Project is soon to take over our screens, providing us with the Ryan Reynolds sci-fi content we didn’t know we needed. In a second collaboration with the director (Shawn Levy) and producers of Disney+ film Free Guy, Reynolds will star alongside Zoe Saldana, Catherine Keener and Alex Mallari Jr. Speaking of reunions, Mark Ruffalo and Jennifer Garner will also appear onscreen for the first time since their 13 going on 30 collaboration in 2004 (I know, we’re freaking out too).
Coming in at 1h 46m, the adventure plot will be a chance to laugh and, at moments, shed a heartfelt tear as the witty talents of Ryan Reynolds meet their match with newcomer and co-star Walker Scobell.
Having directed several episodes of Netflix’s hit show Stranger Things, there’s no surprise that director Shawn Levy injected a twinge of 80s sci-fi nostalgia from the moody neon lighting to the backing soundtrack. (The trailer features 1976 song Foreplay/Long Time by Boston and there’s an unreleased soundtrack on Apple Music that’s bound to be epic.) Meanwhile Dish Nation’s Andrew Freund coins it, “An instant classic like E.T and Back to the Future”.
The Adam Project is an original Netflix debut written by the likes of Jonathon Tropper, T.S. Nowlin, Jennifer Flackett and Mark Levin.
