3Singer Grimes has revealed on Instagram that she’s been diagnosed with the coronavirus.
She lives in Los Angeles, an area currently experiencing a huge surge in cases.
“Finally got COVID but weirdly enjoying the DayQuil fever dream,” Grimes wrote on her Instagram Story, alongside a screenshot of her listening to SZA’s song ‘Good Days’.
Her partner Elon Musk contracted COVID-19 last year, which is probably why she used the word “finally”. He received backlash when he revealed his diagnosis, saying that the coronavirus was no big deal.
“My symptoms are that of a minor cold, which is no surprise, since a coronavirus is a type of cold,” he said.
After welcoming their first child together in May, the tech billionaire and the singer made headlines when they revealed the highly unusual and hard to pronounce name they had chosen for their son: “X Æ A-12 Musk.”
Opening up about the mystical meaning behind the name, Grimes wrote on Twitter: “X, the unknown variable ⚔️. Æ, my elven spelling of Ai (love &/or Artificial intelligence). A-12 = precursor to SR-17 (our favourite aircraft). No weapons, no defenses, just speed. Great in battle, but non-violent + (A=Archangel, my favourite song) (⚔️🐁 metal rat).”
Not long after, the new parents were forced to amend the infant’s name to “X Æ A-Xii” due to Californian law only allowing names that use the 26 letters of the English alphabet. TMZ reported that the couple later made a second small change. The child’s name is currently “X AE A-XII Musk.”
And it appears even the ‘Oblivion’ hitmaker has been struggling to pronounce her son’s name.
