After Lisa, who was struggling to cope with the loss of her mom, Lois Rinna, at the time the scene was filmed, lashed out at Sutton as the two of them continued to feud over Sutton’s claims regarding the origin of Lisa’s ticket to the Elton John Gala, Kyle Richards, Dorit Kemsley, and others shared their thoughts about what went down between their castmates.
“When that whole situation happened with Rinna and Sutton, it was really shocking, even for us. Rinna really lost it in that moment,” Kyle admitted on last week’s episode of the RHOBH: After Show. “It’s easy to sort of, when we’re doing so much and when we’re traveling and going [to] events and stuff, you can kinda forget for a minute. And then you go, ‘God, she literally just lost her mom.’ So I think that that was a very telling moment but it was still shocking.”
While grappling back and forth with Sutton, Lisa suddenly suffered an emotional breakdown as she confessed to succumbing to her grief.
“First of all, I’m thinking, ‘Don’t do this. What the hell are you doing? What’s going on?’ And then when she started sobbing, we’re reminded that she just lost her mom,” Kyle noted. “[And] it was very clear in that moment she was struggling.”
According to Dorit, Lisa was doing her best to soldier on after the loss of her mom, “putting one foot in front of the other,” just as she did after she was robbed at gunpoint.
“You live through this trauma and all you’re doing is you’re putting one foot in front of the other and you’re just letting the emotions come and dealing with them when they come,” she explained.
“And they come out of nowhere,” noted Erika Jayne.
In addition to dealing with the emotional toll her mother’s death was taking on her, Lisa was further tested by the arrival of her mother’s belongings — on the same day as Dorit’s event, where she and Sutton faced off.
“Lois’ things had arrived, her last things had arrived, her boxes,” Erika revealed.
“She was unpacking her mother’s [personal stuff],” added Dorit. “And I think that a lot of her emotions that night were triggered by the events of the day.”
Referencing her own loss, Crystal Kung-Minkoff said she hoped Lisa’s “big” outburst was “cathartic for her.”
“I remember when my dad, it was actually before he died. He was passing and Jeff and I went outside and we just started screaming in the streets, all of our emotions and I remember thinking that. Like, maybe that’s what she’s going through right now,” Crystal shared.
As for Kyle’s thoughts on Lisa’s issue with Sutton, she said that she believes Lisa is holding a grudge against Sutton due to the claims she made on Watch What Happens Live (Sutton said Lisa and husband Harry Hamlin came to the Elton John Gala as her guest in response to Lisa suggesting Garcelle Beauvais failed to thank Harry in person for a sauce he had made her, which she has since admitted Harry didn’t care about).
“I just think that Rinna has never gotten over the fact that Sutton tried to make her look stupid on Watch What Happens Live,” Kyle suspected. “I don’t think that was very fair of Sutton at all when Rinna and Harry’ve been going to that event for years… [Rinna] just does not want to let that go.”
But Sutton feels she’s done her part.
“Here’s the thing: I’ve apologized, I’ve apologized, and I’ve apologized again… Every time we’re all together I apologize. And does Lisa enjoy this?” she wondered. “I know what I did was wrong. I didn’t come from a bad place when I did it but she, it hurt her… [And] I can’t win.”
“It wasn’t that traumatic,” Garcelle interjected.
Not only was Lisa upset that Sutton suggested she had paid for her and Harry’s tickets, which were actually given to her courtesy of IMDb, but she was also worked up about her husband being dragged into the drama.
“As we know, you don’t mention the husband,” Kyle stated.
