The modern family of Jesse Tyler Ferguson and his husband Justin Mikita is about to get even bigger!
The Modern Family star and his husband of eight years have announced they are expanding their family, with a little brother or sister to join son Beckett this US fall.
Tyler Ferguson, 46, who played Mitchell Pritchett on Modern Family during its 11-season run, which ended in 2020, took to his Instagram account this week to share some “exciting news” with his 3.4 million followers.
“We’re expecting number two!” he wrote. “Our growing family will be a family of four later this fall!” adding, “We are so excited for Beckett to have a sibling.”
In an accompanying video, Tyler Ferguson said, “There is a lot of really horrible stuff happening in the country right now that Justin and I wanted to share a little but of good news with you.
“We are expanding our family. Beckett is going to be a sibling this fall.”
In the post he thanked the fertility doctor and IVF service “who has provided us the possibility to expand our family not once, but twice” adding, “We wouldn’t be here without you!”
The couple welcomed son Beckett in July 2020. They rarely share photographs of their almost two-year-old son, but a week ago Tyler Ferguson posted a cute video of the toddler doing a funny walk, which he captioned, “Caught a vibe.”
A photo uploaded a month ago showed the pair in a group hug with their son, which was captioned, “Love smoosh sandwich.”
Tyler Ferguson also wrote about his heartbreak over recent events in the US, including the school shooting in Texas, and mentioned their charity, which raises funds for organisations fighting for LGBTQIA+ equality, reproductive health, sensible gun reform and transgender equality.
The couple first started the charity, which at the time was called Tie the Knot, in 2012, to lobby for marriage equality in the US.
They renamed it Pronoun last October to expand its work.
