‘Shazam! 2’ Wonder Woman Cameo Struggled With Scheduling Conflicts

Shazam! Fury of the Gods brought Billy Batson to blows with Greek gods, with a cameo from Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman. A new report suggests that scheduling conflicts caused the people behind the movie to use another body double for her scene.

Gal Gadot’s cameo as Wonder Woman in Shazam! Fury of the Gods sadly didn’t surprise fans due to Warner Bros. using her appearance as a way to draw people into theaters right before the film’s release, but it seems as though many fans still enjoyed the DC Extended Universe heroes getting one last crossover before James Gunn and Peter Safran’s reboot. However, according to the film’s star Zachary Levi, scheduling conflicts with Gadot prevented the two from ever meeting on set:

“She was busy working. She was shooting something else entirely, so we had a body double on our end,” Levi told Entertainment Weekly. “Then we were able to shoot her stuff on another side. I think they did a great job seamlessly cutting all that together. And I love that Billy is so in love with her. He’s so infatuated, and he’s so nervous! That was fun to tap into. It felt like going back to being my 17-year-old self.”

Zachary Levi acting against a body double for Wonder Woman’s cameo in Shazam! Fury of the Gods is almost a cruel joke to fans who remember the headless Superman cameo from the first film. While it’s unclear what Gal Gadot was filming at the time of Shazam! 2’s production, fans were luckily able to see her in the flesh thanks to a little bit of movie magic on Warner Brothers’ end!

The film stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer, Adam Brody, Ross Butler, Meagan Good, D.J. Cotrona, Grace Caroline Currey, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Marta Millans, Cooper Andrews, Djimon Hounsou, Rachel Zegler, Lucy Liu and Helen Mirren.

The official Shazam! Fury of the Gods synopsis reads as follows: “Bestowed with the powers of the gods, Billy Batson and his fellow foster kids are still learning how to juggle teenage life with having adult Super Hero alter-egos. But when the Daughters of Atlas, a vengeful trio of ancient gods, arrive on Earth in search of the magic stolen from them long ago, Billy—aka Shazam—and his family are thrust into a battle for their superpowers, their lives, and the fate of their world.”
