While discussing her experiences on the show with Real Housewives of Potomac cast member Candiace Dillard-Bassett amid a recently-released Bravo special, Sutton shared her Garcelle Beauvais-related regret before sharing a controversial statement she made to Erika Jayne that was not aired on the show — and admitting to nearly quitting the series.
“I wish that I had, to be honest, stuck up for Garcelle a little more last year — not because she needed it but because I wish I had shown my friendship in a better way,” Sutton revealed on Housewife to Housewife.
As for what she said to Erika, Sutton said that while in Del Mar on a cast trip, she told Erika, “I’m not afraid of you.”
“And I wish that had been shown,” she noted.
While bonding over their childhoods in Georgia, Sutton said that despite their ties to the south, she couldn’t see herself joining RHOP. After all, the weather wouldn’t suit her.
“I don’t like the cold. I cannot be in that snow,” she told Candiace.
“It was in Miami… It’s diamonds and I think its eyes are emeralds. It was one of those purchases that hurt,” she laughed.
When Sutton was then asked about whether or not she’s considered leaving her franchise, Sutton said appearing on RHOBH is “tougher than people realize.”
“I think that people from the outside think we just get dressed up and have parties and it’s easy but it’s not,” she explained.
According to Sutton, she remembers one specific incident during season 11 in which she nearly cut ties with Bravo.
“After that dinner, when Erika hissed at me, I excused myself from the table because I thought, ‘[I’m] done with people that do this.’ And I left and I really, I was like, ‘I don’t think this is the right fit,’” she shared. “[But then] I was like, ‘No. I will stay because I’m not going to be chased off and give someone what they want.’”
Also on Housewife to Housewife, Sutton told Candiace she was setting out to meet a man she met on the dating app Bumble.
“I kind of like this guy… He’s cute. He has two earrings, which, uh, okay. [And] he was a Jeopardy champion,” she revealed.
As fans of RHOBH may recall, Sutton dated former boyfriend Michael for three years before he shockingly dumped her on Valentine’s Day of last year, which he later apologized for.
“He was very apologetic. He was like, ‘I never should have done that to you. I never should have left you like that. And I’m sorry.’ It was not nice,” Sutton stated. “He gave a litany of reasons why. I had my boot on. I was in a bad place. He’s not the one. I told him, I go, ‘Michael, you know I’m kind of a catch.’ I’m a pretty girl.”
