The Must-See Looks From Couture Week, Back and Stronger than Ever

Entertainment:

A magical Couture week has come to a close, with fashion houses like Fendi, Chanel, Schiaparelli, and Van Cleef & Arpels proving that a pandemic can birth great creativity. Even the celebrities who typically flock to fashion week were out in force, with Demi Moore, Lily-Rose Depp, Penelope Cruz, and Bella Hadid among the stars either attending shows or walking in them.

The magnificent collections that were displayed celebrated beauty in all forms. Area championed body diversity with crystal-adorned pieces; Chanel represented its forever ladylike persona with dresses of delicate lace and sheer; Fendi brought an “all in the family” charm that graced the runway where everyone appeared like a member of a royalty with floral and pearl embellishments in the debut collection with Kim Jones at the helm; and Schiaparelli presented wild and out of the box designs that incorporate jewelry into the clothing, but yet beautiful charm of what haute couture can be.

And the week is just as big for jewelry houses as it is for fashion houses—after all, they share much of the same wealthy clientele. Though most jewelers show in the summer, there were notable collections this season including Chanel High Jewelry, Van Cleef & Arpel’s high jewelry inspired by the cosmos and stars, and Boucheron high jewelry’s homage to art deco shown as much on men as for women. Though menswear collections are traditionally presented at the beginning of January, this year couture week was infused with a few mens looks. With Kim Jones presenting his first couture collection as the new womenswear Creative Director of Fendi and Valentino’s Pierpaolo Piccioli presenting his show taking inspiration from artificial technology, we got a taste of what the new era of high-menswear looks like— from Fendi’s floral embellishments to the best tailing and capes you have ever seen at Valentino.

The couture shows gave us hope, exuberance, mystique and the overall belief that fashion can solve all of your problems. Ahead, some of our favorite looks, which should hopefully take your breath away, too.
