‘The Sandman’: New Trailer For Netflix’s Adaptation Drops At SDCC

A brand new trailer for Netflix’s The Sandman dropped at San Diego Comic-Con.

The Sandman is one of, if not the most popular comic book series from Neil Gaiman. For many years, the story was considered impossible to get on film, but after a long time in development hell, a series is set to premiere on Netflix in about two weeks.

In anticipation for The Sandman, Netflix’s new series had a special panel during San Diego Comic-Con in Hall H on Saturday, in which much of the show’s creative team and cast were present to discuss the show. The new trailer was also played to the attendees, further hyping up the long-awaited adaptation.

When it comes to iconic graphic novels, you often see Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman thrown out there as an all-timer, along the likes of beloved titles such as Alan Moore’s Watchmen. With Netflix bringing the series to life for the first time in live-action, fans are still holding out hope that this adaptation will be worthy of Gaiman’s acclaimed legacy with the comic.

Here is the synopsis for Netflix’s The Sandman:

There is another world that waits for all of us when we close our eyes and sleep — a place called the Dreaming, where The Sandman, Master of Dreams (Tom Sturridge), gives shape to all of our deepest fears and fantasies. But when Dream is unexpectedly captured and held prisoner for a century, his absence sets off a series of events that will change both the dreaming and waking worlds forever. To restore order, Dream must journey across different worlds and timelines to mend the mistakes he’s made during his vast existence, revisiting old friends and foes, and meeting new entities — both cosmic and human — along the way.

The series stars Tom Sturridge, Gwendoline Christie, Vivienne Acheampong, Boyd Holbrook, Charles Dance, Asim Chaudhry, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Jenna Coleman, Joely Richardson, David Thewlis, Stephen Fry, Patton Oswalt, and Mark Hamill.
