Rachel McAdams and Will Ferrell star as an Icelandic duo hoping to win the biggest music competition in the world in the new trailer for the Netflix comedy Eurovision Song Contest: the Story of Fire Saga.
Though Lars Erickssong (Ferrell) and Sigrit Ericksdottir (McAdams) — otherwise known as Fire Saga — are one of the most unpopular acts in their home country, they are miraculously plucked to represent Iceland with their song ‘Volcano Man’.
“When aspiring musicians Lars and Sigrit are given the opportunity of a lifetime to represent their country at the world’s biggest song competition, they finally have a chance to prove that any dream worth having is a dream worth fighting for,” Netflix said of the film.
Netflix previously released a music video for ‘Volcano Man’.
The movie, directed by David Dobkin and written by Andrew Steele and Ferrell, also stars Demi Lovato, Dan Stevens and Pierce Brosnan and is set to hit Netflix on June 26.
Stevens plays Lars and Sigrit’s arch-rival, Russian singer Alexander Lemtov, while Lovato stars as Katiana, one of the best and most angelic singers in all of Iceland.
Eurovision Song Contest: the Story of Fire Saga was originally scheduled to be released in May 2020 to coincide with the Eurovision Song Contest 2020, however was delayed due to COVID-19.
