Zoë Kravitz has responded to critics of her daring 2021 Met Gala look, after being told to “take some damn pride” in herself.
Taking to the Met Gala carpet on Monday, the 32-year-old actress made a bold statement in a completely sheer, crystal mesh Yves Saint Laurent gown, with a matching thong underneath.
The dress wowed onlookers and was one of the star’s most daring looks to date — following the “wisp of material” golden mesh bra Kravitz wore at the 2019 Oscars after-party.
But not everyone was so impressed by the designer look. Some fans took to the comments on Kravitz’s Instagram to voice their disapproval.
“Where’s the dress?” one commenter wrote.
A second added: “I don’t get why women feel it’s ok to walk around naked … take some damn pride in yourself.”
“I don’t understand why they go practically naked. She’s gorgeous. Why does she feel the need to wear a dress like this??” a third user commented.
“Being uncomfortable with the human body is colonization / brainwashing. It’s just a body. We all got em,” she wrote.
Despite the negative reception from some, the account also shared a post of Kravitz being hailed by actress Mindy Kaling in her Instagram comments.
In the comments, users seemed to share Mindy’s sentiment:
“WE ALL ARE MINDY,” one person wrote.
“Can she do a masterclass on the smoldering lewk please,” another commented.
“She might be the prettiest girl on the planet” a third added.
