Microsoft is reportedly in talks to buy AI and speech technology company Nuance Communications for about $16 billion | Tech News | Startups News

Startup News:

Microsoft Corp is reportedly in advanced talks to buy artificial intelligence and speech technology company Nuance Communications Inc at about $16 billion, according to Reuters, citing a source familiar with the matter. Microsoft has been on a buying spree lately. Just a little over two weeks ago, the tech giant was reportedly in talks to buy video-game chat startup Discord for more than $10 billion.

Per Reuters, the source added the price being discussed could value Nuance at about $56 a share, adding that an agreement could be announced as soon as Monday. If the talks go through, the deal with Nuance would be Microsoft’s second-biggest deal, after its $26.2 billion acquisition of LinkedIn in 2016. Meanwhile, Reuters added that the two companies did not immediately respond to Reuters’ request for comment.

Founded in 1992 by Ronald Croen, the Burlington, Massachusetts-based Nuance delivers solutions that understand, analyze, and respond to people – amplifying human intelligence to increase productivity and security.

With decades of domain and AI expertise, Nuance works with thousands of organizations globally across healthcare, financial services, telecommunications, government, and retail – to create stronger relationships and better experiences for their customers and workforce.
