“During the investigation, it was learned that [Samantha] Krakower, who is also a softball coach and basketball coach at Leonia High School, started the inappropriate relationship earlier this school year,” Musella said in a statement about the teacher’s alleged misdeeds.

Samantha Krakower is looking at charges of sexual assault and criminal sexual contact for allegedly crossing the boundary between teacher and student.

She is also facing a charge of endangering the welfare of a child.

The Daily Voice reports that the alleged victim was either 16 or 17 years old.

Detectives in a New Jersey special victims unit learned that Krakower allegedly began molesting the child early this year.

The school district first learned of the alleged abuse from two messages that came in on its confidential tip line, reports.

Schools Superintendent Ed Bertolini characterized the arrest of Samantha Krakower for the teacher’s alleged sex offenses as a “very troubling situtation.”

Bertolini said because it is a personnel matter, he is limited to what he can currently share with the public.

The superintendent said that students, staff and teachers will have access to counselors in the wake of Samantha Krakower’s arrest for sex abuse.

“While these are pending charges and there has been no adjudication of guilt, the notification of these charges is of great concern to the Leonia Board of Education and the entire Leonia community,” Bertolini said in a statement.

Samantha Krakower first began working in Bergen County in September 2020.

1010 WINS reports that Samantha Krakower has been suspended from her teaching position since the teacher was arrested for allegedly sexually abusing the student.

“The school board and administration are “working closely with law enforcement as their investigation proceeds and remain committed to ensuring the health and safety of our students,” the statement added.
