Chilling footage reveals creeper’s movements before break-in

Disturbing CCTV footage reveals a brazen prowler who crept into a Geraldton girl’s bedroom was lurking around the home for almost two-and-a-half hours before striking.

New security camera vision shows the chilling movements of Jamie Phillip Mongoo, 33, in the early hours of June 2 when he broke into a suburban family home in Geraldton and preyed on a sleeping eight-year-old girl, climbing up the ladder of her loft bed to wake her, talk to her and touch her arm and back.

In footage provided to the Geraldton Guardian by the victim’s mother, the persistent predator was seen lurking around the family’s Strathalbyn home for more than two hours before making his move.

Mongoo is first seen peering into the Strathalbyn property at 12.02am before trying to unlock a back door.

He can then be seen leaving through a side gate at 12.28am, sporting a black hoodie, jeans and a cap.

It is believed Mongoo was also snooping around neighbouring homes in the early hours of that morning and was captured on other properties’ CCTV cameras. All the footage combined helped police track him down and arrest him five days later.

Mongoo reappears at 1.50am, making another unsuccessful attempt to enter the home through a glass sliding door and flyscreen.

He is last seen in the family’s backyard at 2.24am, just minutes before breaking in through an unlocked door on the other side of the house.

Once inside, the man crept into the eight-year-old girl’s bedroom, where he touched her arm and back and whispered to her.
