Two people are in hospital after a four-wheel-drive mounted a pathway and ploughed into a popular pub following a brawl.

The driver is alleged to have been involved in a fight on Mitchell Street, in Darwin, at 3am on Sunday.

Police allege he then got into his 2003 Toyota Landcruiser before the vehicle mounted a sidewalk and ploughed into a group of people.

The car then crashed into Six Tanks Brew Co, which was closed at the time.

A girlfriend and witness to the crash described her partner being struck by the vehicle and going ‘under the bonnet’.

‘I thought he was dead,’ she told NT News.

Police and paramedics arrived on scene where they treated the man before taking him to Royal Darwin Hospital.

The driver was also taken to hospital in a critical condition.

‘A section of Mitchell Street has been cordoned off with the area of Knuckey Street to Peel Street closed to motorists and pedestrians, while detectives from Serious Crime process the scene,’ Northern Territory Police said in a statement.

‘Motorists are advised a traffic diversion between Peel and Nuttal Street is in place.’

Police are appealing to witnesses who may have caught the brawl on their phones to come forward.

Northern Territory Police said no charges have yet been made.
