News Today || Headlines Today

Work stopped on the Perth Airport rail link this morning, after a man died from a suspected heart attack before 10.30am.

It’s understood the man, aged in his early 40s, was standing on a vehicle platform when he complained of chest pain, clutched his chest and collapsed.

St John Ambulance and several DFES crews were called to the scene but the man was unable to be revived.

CFMEU WA’s Simon Stokes said the worker died of “health-related issues” and there was nothing untoward or suspicious about the passing.

“He wasn’t actively engaged in a work activity at the time,” Mr Stokes said.

He said support was being provided to the man’s colleagues through mental wellness and suicide prevention group Mates In Construction.

Mr Stokes offered condolences to the man’s family and friends and said, no matter the circumstance, to lose a loved one at work was a tragedy.
