Santa Claus is coming to town!

The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) is hosting its annual Santa Claus Parade on Dec. 4 to 5. The parade will follow last year’s drive-thru format. Attendees will drive past floats parked at MacDonald Island Park to enjoy the holiday cheer.

The municipality is also offering sensory-friendly parade hours this year. The lights and sounds will be minimized so everyone in the region can enjoy the event.

The Dec. 4 event will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The sensory-friendly event will be held between 4:30 p.m. and 5 p.m.

The Dec. 5 event will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. The sensory event will be held between 4 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Spectators must register for a time slot to attend the event. Registration is free and will be available online at the municipality’s website starting Nov. 26th.

The municipality is also encouraging local businesses, non-profits and community groups to spread the Christmas cheer by entering floats in the parade.

This year’s theme is “holiday movies.” Floats and participations are encouraged to follow the theme by basing entries around their favourite Christmas movies and characters

Float registration is open until Nov. 19.
