Search for evidence in woman’s homicide taking place east of Calgary

News Today || Canada News |

CALGARY – Police who have been investigating the suspected murder of a Calgary woman who was last seen more than five years ago are searching this weekend for evidence east of the city.

Calgary’s police force said in a news release that its members, along with RCMP and the Calgary Search and Rescue Association, will be looking Saturday on Siksika Nation land for potential evidence in the disappearance of Tammie Doreen Howard.

Howard, who was 49 when she vanished, was last heard from on Dec. 24, 2016, and reported missing by her family four months later.

Last month, police announced they believed her disappearance was a homicide after initially thinking it was a missing person case, and they asked the public for information on a light-coloured Jeep Wrangler that they believed to be connected to Howard’s death.

They say that since that plea, they now believe that evidence related to Howard’s death may be located on Siksika Nation land.

Police thanked the Siksika Nation in the news release for allowing them to conduct the search.
