Emergency services descended on Windmill Road in Croydon this afternoon (Thursday, April 8) after a car crashed into a shopfront and caused a gas leak in the area.

Images taken at the scene of the crash showed a car wedged into the front of a store on Windmill Road with police cars, ambulances and fire engines all visible.

A police cordon closing off a section of Windmill road was also in place.
