I HAVE to agree with the letter in Saturday’s National regarding the lack of action from SNP MPs in Westminster. Apart from the odd inspirational speech from Mhairi Black, or Joanna Cherry winning the court case against the Tory government illegally proroguing parliament, what have they actually achieved?
How many times did Ian Blackford say Scotland won’t be pulled out of the EU against our wishes – yet where are we now? Outside the EU and no action from our toothless MPs.
It’s becoming clearer to me that if we are going to send SNP MPs to Westminster they had better start doing something other than sitting on the green benches counting their expenses. The worst example of this is Pete Wishart MP, who spends more time attacking independence supporters online than actually standing up for Scotland. Mr Wishart has been an MP for more than 20 years and its arguable if we are any closer to independence now (polls won’t win independence – especially when the SNP leadership puts all the power to call a referendum into the hands of Boris Johnson). That’s 20-plus years wasted.
Maybe it’s time to fix term limits to aspiring SNP MPs – give them no more than one or two terms and if we haven’t achieved independence, replace them with someone who will fight for independence!
