Plan for blocks of flats up to 12 storeys high at supermarket site

Today News || UK News

A developer wants to build blocks of flats up to 12 storeys high on the site of a supermarket and former pub.

TFC Palmers Green has drawn up plans for 52 homes at the TFC supermarket on the north-east corner of the junction between the North Circular Road and Green Lanes.

The building, which dates back to 1885, was originally known as the Cock Inn pub and later served as a disco, theme pub and sports bar.

Identified as a heritage asset by Enfield Council, two of the building’s main facades would be incorporated into the new development.

The plans involve building blocks of three, eight and 12 storeys at the site, which is surrounded by buildings of between three and five storeys.

A planning document submitted on behalf of the developer says one of the aims is to “negotiate a transition of scale between the larger ‘city-wide’ and the immediate context established by the two-storey former pub and its immediate neighbours”.

A supermarket and restaurant are also included in the proposals, along with 29 parking spaces for cars and up to 120 cycle spaces for residents.

Residents can view and comment on the plans by visiting Enfield Council’s planning portal and entering planning reference: 21/01230/FUL
