Police are on the hunt for a man and a car in connection with an arson attack on a house in Welling.
Officers and firefighters were called to the scene in South Gipsy Road at around 11.05pm on July 14.
Those living in the house lost their home completely – and have also suffered a number of allegations that they are responsible for the fire.
Police have said that this is not the case and are treating the incident as arson.
There were no injuries and no arrests have been made.
The wanted vehicle is a Fiat Punto – believed to be a Grande model – and is light blue with a noticeable dent in the front right wheel arch.
Police suspect that the car could be in the south east London area, including Welling, Bexleyheath, Dartford or Greenwich.
Officers wish to identify the car and its owner as it is believed to have been used in connection with this incident.
The fire was extinguished by around 12.30am.
Detective Sergeant Danny Banks, from the Serious and Complex Investigations Unit, said: “The victims in this incident are prominent on social media and have suffered a hugely distressing ordeal, not least because they have lost their home but have also since suffered baseless allegations on social media that they are responsible for this incident.
“I am happy to state that they are not and remain supportive of our investigation.
“We ask that anyone with information relating to the car or the incident calls police on 101 or tweets @MetCC quoting CAD 8350/14July.
“It is vital we hear from you.”
A spokesperson for the Met Police said: “Detectives are renewing appeals for help to trace a car pictured following an arson attack at a residential address in Welling.
