2022 PGA Championship purse, prize money: Payout for each golfer from $15 million pool

News Post || News Now:

History and substantial $15 million purse are on the line at the 104th PGA Championship as action concludes at Southern Hills on Sunday in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Beyond the record sum that will be paid to the winner, those who find themselves near the top of the PGA Championship leaderboard by tournament’s end will go home with significant payouts — even if those checks will not come with the Wanamaker Trophy.

Players who finish inside the top 28 will collect a six-figure payday, thus easing the pain of potential defeat. Despite the large prize pool, it is not the most massive of the season as the Players Championship boasted a record-setting $20 million fund. The Masters also recently increased its purse to $15 million with the same winner’s share as the PGA Championship.

Cameron Smith banked $3.6 million for his victory at TPC Sawgrass last year with Scottie Scheffler cashing a $2.7 million check for his triumph at Augusta National in April. Sunday’s winner will match Scheffler with the second-biggest share of the year as the PGA Championship will also pay out $2.7 million for the latest to join its victory circle.

The top of the leaderboard is loaded with neophytes, at least when it comes to winning major championships. The top four entering the final 18 holes have not only been winless at majors but on the PGA Tour as a whole. Mito Pereira held the 54-hole lead with a three stroke advantage on Will Zalatoris and Matthew Fitzpatrick, two of five golfers who will chase him down the stretch. But others like Justin Thomas and Rory McIlroy will do their darnedest to make a run and pull of a stunning come-from-behind victory.

Let’s take a look at how much the payouts for the 2022 PGA Championship will be divided among the top 79 players who made the cut, and be sure to check out our PGA Championship TV schedule and live stream guide.
