Ciryl Gane will be looking to improve his unblemished professional MMA record to 8-0 on Saturday when he takes on fellow heavyweight Jairzinho Rozenstruik at UFC Vegas 20 as a -270 favourite on the UFC odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
The 30-year-old Frenchman recorded a second-round TKO victory over Junior dos Santos at UFC 256, and now sits at No. 8 in the UFC heavyweight rankings going into Saturday night’s bout at UFC Apex.
“Bon Gamin” burst onto the MMA scene with a first-round knockout of Bobby Sullivan to claim the TKO heavyweight championship in his professional debut in Montreal in August 2018. Gane successfully defended his crown on two occasions, and has finished opponents in three of four outings since joining the UFC in the summer of 2019.
Listed as a +210 underdog at sports betting sites for Saturday’s contest, Rozenstruik also looks to build on a recent victory over Junior dos Santos that has fueled his rise to No. 4 in the divisional rankings. “Bigi Boy” finished the former UFC heavyweight champion with a second-round TKO on punches at UFC 252, paying out on -140 odds. The victory marked a much-needed rebound for the 32-year-old after suffering a stunning knockout loss just 20 seconds into his clash with Francis Ngannou at UFC 249, which also marked his first defeat as a pro MMA fighter.
Like Gane, Rozenstruik sports a dominating track record, with all but one of his 11 career fights ending by KO or TKO. Rozenstruik has recorded wins inside five minutes in two of his six appearances since joining the UFC two years ago, and needed just nine seconds to knock out Allen Crowder at UFC Fight Night 154 and take home a Performance of the Night bonus.
Elsewhere on the UFC Vegas 20 odds, rising star Magomed Ankalaev vies for a third straight opening-round victory as he battles fellow light heavyweight Nikita Krylov as lofty -360 chalk. As well, a pair of women’s flyweight rivals looking to get past recent defeats clash as Mayra Bueno Silva fights Montana De La Rosa as a -145 favourite. And earlier in the evening, bantamweight Jimmie Rivera looks to win two in a row for the first time in four years as he takes on Pedro Munhoz as -155 chalk.
Ankalaev has been dominant since suffering his lone defeat as a pro in his UFC defeat. The 28-year-old has since tallied five straight wins, and earned three fight bonuses during that stretch. Conversely, Krylov looks to record consecutive wins for the first time since joining the UFC in 2018 as he steps into the octagon as a +270 underdog on the odds.
