NBA DFS: LeBron James and top DraftKings, FanDuel daily Fantasy basketball picks for Jan. 4, 2022

News Post || News Now

The Tuesday NBA DFS player pool is rather limited with just five games on the schedule and a number of players out due to injury or illness. But that presents opportunities for under-the-radar players to make splashes in NBA DFS lineups and the CavaliersLamar Stevens is one of those. Cleveland just lost another player with Isaac Okoro suffering an elbow injury, while new addition Rajon Rondo is not yet available for the rotation. Stevens matched a career-high of 15 points in his last game and is one of the few healthy wings on the roster ahead of Tuesday’s game vs. the Grizzlies at 7 p.m. ET.

The Cavs have no shortage of big men with Jarrett Allen, Evan Mobley, Lauri Markkanen and Kevin Love, but Stevens certainly fills a need on the perimeter. He’s a low-cost, high-upside player who won’t take up much of your NBA DFS salary cap which would then allow you to splurge on more pricier options. But what other players like Stevens are out there for Tuesday? Before making your NBA DFS picks for Tuesday, be sure to check out the NBA DFS advice, player rankings, stacks and top daily Fantasy basketball picks from SportsLine’s Mike McClure

McClure is a DFS professional with nearly $2 million in career winnings. He’s also a predictive data engineer at SportsLine who uses a powerful prediction model that simulates every minute of every game 10,000 times, taking factors like matchups, statistical trends and injuries into account.

This allows him to find the best NBA DFS values and create optimal lineups that he shares only over at SportsLine. They’re a must-see for any NBA DFS player.

On Monday, McClure included Timberwolves guard Patrick Beverley as one of his top NBA DFS picks on both DraftKings and FanDuel. The result: Beverley posted 11 points, a career-high of 12 assists, three rebounds and two steals, returning 37.75 points on DraftKings and 37.6 points on FanDuel. Anybody that included him in their lineups was well on the way to a profitable day.

Now, McClure has turned his attention to the Tuesday, January 4 NBA DFS slate and locked in his top daily Fantasy basketball picks. You can only see them by heading to SportsLine.

Top NBA DFS picks for Tuesday, January 4

One of McClure’s top Tuesday NBA DFS picks is Lakers forward LeBron James ($11,400 on both DraftKings and FanDuel). The now-37-year-old continues to defy Father Time as James is averaging 28.5 points per game which trails only Kevin Durant. The points average is his highest in 12 years since James put up 29.7 PPG in the last year of his first stint in Cleveland in 2009-10.

The Lakers host the Kings on Tuesday and James had a typical All-NBA performance the last time he saw Sacramento in late November. James played a season-high of 49 minutes and put up 30 points, 11 assists and seven rebounds. That was one of his NBA-leading 15 games with at least 30 points this season, despite him missing nearly one-third of the year due to various reasons. James has been more assertive in looking for his shot with Anthony Davis sidelined and daily Fantasy players will reap the benefits of having him in their lineups for Tuesday.

Another part of McClure’s optimal NBA DFS strategy includes rostering Pacers forward Domantas Sabonis ($9,900 on DraftKings and $10,000 on FanDuel). Sabonis filled up the stat sheet in his last game on Sunday as he went off for 32 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists. For the season, the two-time All-Star is averaging 18.4 points, 12 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game.

Sabonis should get all of the shots he can handle on Tuesday due to the Pacers listing nine players as out, including their leading scorer in Malcolm Brogdon and their third-leading scorer in Caris LeVert. Further boosting Sabonis’ stock is Indiana’s opponent on Tuesday which is the New York Knicks. Sabonis has averaged a 21-13-4 stat line the last two times he’s faced the Knicks which were both earlier this season. Sabonis should operate as the Pacers’ primary scorer and playmaker on Tuesday, so you can see why McClure is high on him.
