Cincinnati Bengals starting quarterback Joe Burrow suffered a throat contusion in Week 5 against the Green Bay Packers, but was able to suit up the following week against the Detroit Lions after a short hospitalization. While he looked good in the 34-11 win, throwing three touchdowns and one interception, Burrow is still dealing with aftereffects from the throat injury.

According to ESPN, Burrow did not participate in media availability for a second straight week due to his throat contusion. A team spokesperson said that Cincy’s signal-caller is still on voice rest. Burrow was listed on the Wednesday injury report as a full participant with a “throat” designation, and is expected to suit up on Sunday to face the Baltimore Ravens

“The doctors said he should rest a little bit more, so that’s what we’re going to do,” Bengals head coach Zac Taylor said.

The rival Ravens should provide a much more hostile environment than the Lions did last Sunday. According to ESPN, Burrow said after the game in Detroit that his voice was “a little bit sore,” but that he was able to power through.

“Whether we’re doing crowd noise (at practice) or periods we don’t, those guys gotta be locked in in the huddle and really intent, looking at his lips,” Taylor said. “Because it’s going to be noisy on Sunday.”

Burrow has thrown for 1,540 yards, 14 touchdowns and seven interceptions while leading the Bengals to a 4-2 start. While they have begun to emerge as an intriguing storyline in the NFL, they could really make a statement with a road win over a divisional rival that has won five straight. The winner of this matchup will sit atop the AFC North entering Week 8.
