The hits just keep coming on the Philadelphia Eagles offensive line, who have lost their starting left guard for the season. Philadelphia placed Isaac Seumalo on injured reserve Tuesday with a LisFranc injury, one which will require season-ending surgery.

With Seumalo out, the Eagles will need a left guard for the remainder of the 2021 season. Philadelphia already has starting right guard Brandon Brooks out with a torn pectoral muscle, as second-round pick Landon Dickerson earned his first career start in Monday’s loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Dickerson struggled for the second consecutive week, allowing four pressures in 53 pass blocking snaps (one sack, one quarterback hit, two hurries).

Dickerson is expected to fill in for Brooks at right guard as the Eagles are expected to get reinforcements on the offensive line. Jack Driscoll (pectoral) can return from injured reserve this week and has been working with trainers to return as soon as this week. Having Driscoll back adds guard and tackle depth on the offensive line, which is needed with Brooks, Seumalo, and Jordan Mailata (knee) out with injuries.

Nate Herbig filled in for Seumalo after his injury and allowed two pressures in 18 pass blocking snaps. The Eagles have yet to name a starting left guard, but Herbig is the top candidate to start. Driscoll and Jack Anderson, who the Eagles signed off the Buffalo Bills practice squad last week, could also be in the mix to start against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Philadelphia may not have its starting left tackle, left guard, and right guard against Kansas City — pending on the health of Mailata. Losing Seumalo was a blow the Eagles didn’t need to endure.

“That’s tough. That’s a guy that’s been really underappreciated for a long time,” Eagles center Jason Kelce said, via the team’s website. “He does a lot for our room, our unit. He’s a special player, a special person. He’s having a great year. I know he’ll bounce back and be a tremendous player again.”
