Partner Content | Yankees vs. Blue Jays prop picks: Bet on Manoah to slow down New York

News Post || News Now:

The Toronto Blue Jays hope to bounce back against the New York Yankees following a 12-3 rout on Friday night.

The pregame narrative: Alek Manoah would be just the man to steady Toronto’s ship, and takes the rubber opposite Jameson Taillon who has been solid for New York thus far.

Check out our best Yankees vs. Blue Jays prop picks for June 18.

Yankees vs. Blue Jays prop picks overview

  • Manoah over 5.5 strikeouts (-124)
  • Alejandro Kirk and Teoscar Hernandez to both record a hit (-105)
  • Alejandro Kirk over 1.5 total bases (+128)

Best bet: Manoah over 5.5 strikeouts (-124)

Manoah has passed this line twice in his last four games, most recently in a seven-strikeout performance against the Baltimore Orioles. The Yanks are a far better team than the Orioles, but nonetheless, we like him to turn up the heat this afternoon.

The 24-year-old gunslinger has emerged as Toronto’s ace, boasting an immaculate 1.68 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and a 4.9 strikeout to walk rate this season. Manoah lives for the moment and no moment is bigger than starting a game on friendly grounds against the rival Yankees.

Speaking of the Yanks, Manoah has enjoyed quite a bit of success against Aaron Boone’s squad since he entered the league. The 6-foot-6 flamethrower averages 6.25 Ks per outing against the pinstripes, holding them to a minuscule .170 BaBIP.

Manoah’s done a good job of silencing New York’s stars in these starts. Aaron Judge has just one hit in 12 plate appearances with four Ks against Toronto’s starter. Moreover, DJ LeMahieu has been hitless against Manoah with four Ks to his name as well. His 46.7% whiff percentage against Manoah is more than 30 points higher than his career average of 14.1%.

Key stat: Manoah passed this line in both his outings against the Yankees this season, striking out seven in both instances.

Quick picks

Kirk and Hernandez one hit apiece (-105): Surprise, surprise, Kirk has been raking off the opposing pitcher. While Kirk has seen success against basically everyone in his young career, he’s especially dominated Taillon. Kirk is 3-for-7 against the righty and has never swung and missed on any pitch Taillon’s thrown his way.

Hernandez is beginning to heat up and is hitting .339 in June with 21 hits. Expect this Jays duo to register on the stat sheet.

Kirk over 1.5 TB (+128): Kirk has been one of the hottest hitters in baseball over the past month, so we will happily jump on this plus-money base total. The 23-year-old has a hit in four of his last five games and has eclipsed 1.5 total bases in three straight — most recently with a home run against the Yankees on Friday.
