UK TV presenter Alan Carr has defended his good friend Adele‘s recent weight loss.
During an appearance on UK morning show Lorraine, the comedian said everyone was “missing the point” by focusing on the “size of her knickers”.
Christine Lampard, who was filling in for host Lorraine Kelly, told the Chatty Man star the constant headlines about the singer’s weight upset her and asked how he felt as a close friend.
“I think she’s always been gorgeous, with those eyes and those lips,” Carr said.
“With Adele, you sort of miss the point if you’re just worried about what size knickers she wears, because it’s that voice. It’s that inspirational, awesome voice.
“Listen, if the voice got skinny… I’d say, ‘Girl, go get a Greggs down you!;” he joked, before adding: “It’s all about the voice for me.”
Carr and Adele are so close the hit-maker got ordained to marry the TV host and his partner Paul Drayton in January 2018.
The ‘Someone Like You’ songstress was also the couple’s wedding planner, wedding singer and gave them an epic wedding present on top of it all — a trip to Las Vegas to see Céline Dion in concert.
Speaking about the big day on The Jonathon Ross Show, Carr revealed he’d married his partner in Adele’s LA home.
“We did it in her back garden. How nice was that? She paid for it all. She is the loveliest person ever.
“The most magical day ever. As a treat she took us to see Céline Dion in Caesars Palace. She’s absolutely lovely. She sang.'”
The pair became good friends many years ago with Carr even letting Adele live at his place briefly at one point.
The Grammy Award-winning singer has lost over 44kgs in total across her health transformation, first surprising fans with her new look on social media last year.
