RHOBH's Erika Jayne and Thomas Girardi Hit With $5.37 Million Tax Claim As Thomas' Former Law Firm Partners Head to Court Over Embezzlement Allegations And He's Accused of Staging Divorce and Mental Incompetence

A “staggering” tax claim has just been filed against Erika Jayne and her estranged husband, Thomas Girardi.

According to a series of new updates shared on Twitter, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star and the once-famed attorney are facing a major bill in California as Thomas’ former partners, Keith Griffin and David Lira, prepare to head to court and answer questions about the embezzlement case against the former power couple.

“Breaking: California Franchise Tax Board files tax claims for $5,373,045.55. This is A STAGGERING sum,” attorney Ronald Richards revealed on March 8. “We can’t wait to see his fed tax liab. This was filed in his personal bk. This means all of the community property with [Erika Jayne] is subject to this claim.”

In another series of tweets, Ronald revealed that Keith and David would be participating in a telephonic status hearing on March 31 to discuss the $2 million lawsuits filed against Thomas and Erika, which accused the couple of using settlement funds meant for the family members of victims of a plane crash to sustain their over-the-top lifestyle.

“Edelson has moved to take Griffin and Lira’s deposition. The new defense strategy for Lira and Griffin is that due to the Girardi Keese bankruptcy they cannot sue [Girardi Keese] to pay for any losses,” the attorney explained. “The motion is going to provide an early opinion on this defense.”

Ronald raises the question of whether David, Thomas’ son-in-law, and Keith knew their clients were not getting paid.

“We are struggling with the defense that if an attorney works for another attorney they are immune from a claim if they fail to act and report the client theft,” he added.

In a third tweet, Ronald accused Thomas of staging both his divorce and his supposed mental incompetence in an effort to “avoid all consequences” he could potentially face for his presumed malpractice.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is expected to return to Bravo with season 11 later this year.
