Three London fish and chip shops named the best in the UK

Whether served with mushy peas, tartare or curry sauce, fish and chips is a staple in many homes up and down the country.

And now, there is even a day dedicated to the meal with National Fish & Chip Day taking place today (June 2).

If you were planning on celebrating the day by heading to the chippy, then you’re in luck as three London shops have been named among the best in all of the UK.

Online gambling company Betway has looked across the county to find the best and most popular fish and chip shops in the UK, with spots in London, Manchester and Belfast coming out on top. 

Taking the number one spot on the list was The Mayfair Chippy, which is known for being one of London’s poshest fish and chip restaurants. 

The Mayfair Chippy gained the top spot for its award-winning menu, which features much-loved classics along with more expensive food like oysters, crab and mussels. 

Fellow London chippy Fishers gained the third spot on the list. Described as busy and traditional, the shop has been serving up meals since 1982. 

Some even say its the “best fish and chips in town” on Google Reviews, whilst others shared it had “superb fish and chips with generous portions.”

The last of the three London spots to make the list was Toff’s of Muswell Hill, which was named the fifth best.

Toff’s gained an impressive 4.5/5 on Google Reviews and is self-described as a “Classic fish counter takeaway, adjoining a small restaurant decorated in wood”.

One regular customer wrote: “The family and I love stopping by Toff’s! The food is always fresh and delicious; my fish is crispy, the chips are exceptional, and the atmosphere is great!”
